Founded by a dedicated group of locals and our then Local Councillor, Woody Clachar, we have grown from humble beginnings, meeting in members’ homes, to now operating in a historic building originally a Salvation Army Hall. Our journey to opening the community centre in 1980 involved immense volunteer effort and fundraising, a testament to the community’s dedication.

Our centre, achieving Charitable Status in 1984, is more than just a building; it’s a thriving hub of activity and connection. We offer two main halls for hire – a large hall with a capacity of 120 and a smaller one for up to 40 people. These spaces are versatile and well-equipped, suitable for a range of activities, from private functions and community meetings to regular group activities. Our halls boast features like cool-wall gas fires, a bar area, cushioned impact flooring, and modern kitchen facilities, ensuring comfort and convenience for all events.

We pride ourselves on being accessible and inclusive. Our facilities are designed to accommodate everyone, with step-free access, disabled toilets fitted with safety rails, and baby changing facilities. Safety is a priority, with well-placed emergency exits, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide monitors, and smoke alarms ensuring a secure environment.

Our location is a significant advantage. Situated conveniently near Abbey Wood Rail Station and various bus stops, we are easily accessible for all locals.
