Effie, an adorable female Mini Lop rabbit from Worcester, is on course to become one of the most recognised pet personalities in the country, after a nationwide social media competition to find official models for the Amazon.co.uk Pets Store ranked her in first place.

The affable four-legged family friend becomes the face of Amazon Pets, with the two-year-old set to be seen by millions of Amazon.co.uk customers over the coming months.

“We’re delighted to add Effie and the other six finalists to the list of gorgeous pets set for internet stardom, and want to thank the thousands of entrants taking part in our Face of Amazon Pets competition,” said Melis del Rey, Amazon Pets Store Manager.

Over 28,000 photos of the nation’s beloved pets were submitted, using the hashtag #AmazonPets, with the shortlist coming down to the most likes on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Effie follows in the paw prints of celebrity rabbits including Kylie Jenner’s bunny Bruce, Miley Cyrus’s rabbit Jack, and Cara Delevingne’s pet Cecil. Reports suggest modelling offers are coming in thick and fast.

Effie’s owner, Annie Swift from Worcester, said: “Now that Effie is the Face of Amazon Pets, I’m worried she won’t get out of her hutch in the morning for less than five carrots. Managing her ego around our other three rabbits is going to be tricky.”

Following the results, the seven finalists travelled to London for an exclusive photoshoot and ‘Petwalk’ filming, modelling popular products from the Amazon.co.uk‘s Pets Store.

“We’re going to use the £1,000 Amazon Gift Card to treat her to a large outdoor run so she can explore the garden safely, as well as a variety of toys and treats for her and the other rabbits to keep them active, entertained and happy,” added Ms. Swift.

“The animals were true professionals on the shoot. It was such a joy to be part of the process and Effie is such a deserving winner,” said Rachel Oates, Face of Amazon Pets photographer and judge. Fellow judge Jason Ashley said, “Effie really has the star quality we were looking for in terms of look and personality, and in true model form she was a bit of a diva during the photoshoot!”
