Mention Me Announced Winner of Retail Week Buzz Showcase

Last week London Software as a Service business Mention Me, were announced winners of the Retail Week Buzz Showcase for Tomorrow’s Technology Today.

The Showcase judging panel comprised leaders from major retailers like New Look and Shop Direct. Innovative new technology and ecommerce businesses who pitched their products and services were whittled down to a shortlist of three and then a winner was selected.

Mention Me was chosen because their referral platform is seen as a “very relevant solution for today’s consumer and there’s a real gap in the market for this technology. The judges could all see this solution being implemented easily into their own organisations.”

In the week in which BBC is investigating whether the UK can compete in the global technology market, Mention Me is just one example of a successful London based technology company which was set up by entrepreneurs who identified a gap in the market. They currently serve customers in the UK, Europe and the USA and their software is being used by people in over 100 countries and 13 languages

Founders Andy Cockburn and Tim Boughton set up Mention Me in 2013. They had worked in several successful online businesses, where contented customers had the potential to drive business growth via advocacy. However, they witnessed how difficult it was to develop a solution in-house where demands on development resource can be immense.

CEO Andy Cockburn explained: “Where customers love a company which provides a great product or service, they are likely to tell their friends. Companies which reward this advocacy well, can see referrals account for a large percentage of their customer growth – sometimes up to 30%. Our solution means companies can launch their program quickly and test and refine their offers easily without taking up valuable in-house development time.”

Mention Me have built an impressive list of clients in the UK and Internationally in its first 3 years, including Farfetch, Emma Bridgewater, Glasses Direct and brands from the Inditex group.
