Business profile: Picturehouse, established in 1989, has grown to become a leading name in the UK’s film industry. With Cineworld as our parent company since 2012, we have expanded our reach and enhanced our capabilities. This partnership has allowed us to open new cinemas, create jobs, and grow our independent film distribution arm, Picturehouse Entertainment, while maintaining our unique character and passion for cinema.

At Picturehouse, our cinemas are more than just movie theatres; they are cultural hubs nestled in the heart of their neighborhoods. Each cinema boasts its own distinct personality, complemented by welcoming and attentive staff. We don’t just screen films; we create spaces for eating, meeting, relaxing, and hosting a variety of events. Our film range is broad and carefully curated, covering mainstream, indie, family, foreign language, and documentary films. We also offer special 35mm and 70mm presentations, host film festivals, and provide screenings for opera and theatre lovers.

We believe in the power of film as an educational tool and cultural experience. The Picturehouse Education team collaborates with teachers and organizations to deliver a diverse program across our cinemas. We host screenings and talks for various age groups and occasions, including Black History Month and World Book Day. Picturehouse is also a pioneer in adapted screenings, offering Parents and Baby screenings, Autism Friendly screenings, and Dementia-Friendly screenings, ensuring an inclusive environment for all audiences.

Our commitment extends to our staff, whom we support through the Cinelearn training program. This initiative offers online modules and qualifications in management and communication, fostering continual professional development and future career opportunities.

Looking ahead, Picturehouse remains dedicated to enriching the cinematic experience. We continue to innovate and adapt, ensuring that every visit to our cinemas is memorable, whether for a film enthusiast, a family outing, or an educational trip. Picturehouse stands as a symbol of the enduring magic of cinema, a place where stories come to life and communities come together.
